Through our graduate program, you’ll develop the soft skills vital to success - the ability to communicate well, negotiate, think strategically, solve problems and influence others. You will also learn to apply your software development skills in a commercial setting. These skills feed back into your study. You will begin to think about how to apply what you know to workplace situations, and vice versa.

You will build contacts, enhance your employment prospects and potentially earn more when you graduate.

Key objectives of our program:

  • Gain commercial knowledge and understanding through engagement at a high growth technology startup
  • Obtain an appreciation of the challenges and opportunities unique to an Australian based business with global reach
  • Gain an understanding of leading technical product development, including the Lean-Startup product development concepts
  • Gain an understanding of collaborative, iterative software development including Agile-SCRUM methodology
  • Gain an understanding of customer-led interface design, including use of personas, user stories and wireframes
  • Obtain exposure to emerging technology patterns and frameworks, including:
    • Model, View, Controller (MVC) architecture
    • Cloud service design and infrastructure (Amazon AWS)
    • RESTful JSON application interfaces and integration
    • Native code smartphone application development: iOS (Objective-C, SWIFT) or Android mobile framework (Java) and React Native
    • Continuous integration and automated test frameworks
    • High-velocity & scalable server design via Javascript (Node.js)
    • NoSQL database models (MongoDB)
    • Responsive website development via Angular.js and React

Assignment term: 

  • Duration: four months, aligned to university studies
  • Hours: 9:00 - 17:00, Monday – Friday (we’re a startup so hours will vary)
  • Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia


  • Pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Experience programming in Javascript, Java or other computer programming languages preferred
  • Strong technical prowess, including understanding of algorithms, systems architecture and end-user experience
  • Interest and competency in mobile device and software as a service design patterns
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work in a fast paced changing environment and deliver high quality work product
  • Ability to work well in a team establishing good working relationships with peers
  • Must have right to work in Australia or be eligible for a qualified working/internship visa (subclass 462 or similar)
